Impact of Artificial Polyploidization in Ajuga reptans on Content of Selected Biologically Active Glycosides and Phytoecdysone

Polyploidization in plants, which involves doubling or further multiplying of genome, has the potential to improve constituents that make medicinal like Ajuga reptans, attractive pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food production industries; botanical pesticide effects could also be derived. The aim this study was determine how artificial polyploidization A. reptans plants affected composition quantity biologically active substances from glycoside phytoecdysone families. Diploids tetraploids were analyzed. Changes contents trans-teupolioside, trans-verbascoside, 20-hydroxyecdysone evident aboveground parts cultivated (e.g., leaves flowers). tetraploid lines displayed variability in, increased levels of, trans-teupolioside trans-verbascoside content. 20-hydroxecdysone content slightly higher tetraploids. These findings indicated used breeding programs enhance yield with industrial applications.
